As part of Eat Local Week by Edible Austin, we were priveleged to attend a special screening of the documentary movie “Fresh” at the Paramount Theatre. FRESH challenges the viewer to consider the impact of the foods they’re eating and how it affects their body, their environment, and the future. A powerful call to action, FRESH is a must see for anyone interested in the grow/eat/buy local mindset. Director and producer Ana Sofia Joanes appeared and was available for the Q&A following the film. Participating restaurants were: Asti / FINO, Wink / Zoot, Primizie Osteria, Kerbey Lane Café, The Leaning Pear, Cipollina, Blue Dahlia. Participating beverage artisans were: Zhi Tea, Tipsy Texans, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Paula’s Texas Spirits, Dry Soda, Texas Hill Country Wineries. All proceeds go to benefit Urban Roots, a YouthLaunch program that educates youth on the benefits of community service and organic farming.
